Bovey citadel’s scenic area overlooking lushly wooded hills on the western facet of Dartmoor countrywide Park is top-notch. On the doorstep is 368 rectangular miles of wasteland, dotted with Stone Age stone-hut circles, historical glades, heather-included moorland roamed with the aid of wild horses, and villages lost in time. A 20-minute walk along a wooded river takes you to the thirteenth-century thatched village of North Bovey, one of the moor’s prettiest, while the quiet foodie city of Chagford is a fifteen-minute drive away. The closest seashores are 45 mins by car.
Fashion and Character
This baronial granite u . s. house, built in 1906 for stationery giant WH Smith, is playing a revival underneath new owners The Eden hotel collection, having formerly misplaced its famous person scores. A £3.5million refit has retained all the terrific period features – large stone fireplaces, sweeping mahogany staircases, ornate plaster ceilings, o.k.paneling, mullion windows – and injected a generous dose of glamour in shimmering wallpapers, feather-stuffed sofas, and lush fabric. Looking onto a conventional Dartmoor tor and tree-clad valley, the perspectives are stunning.
Service and Facilities

The 60 rooms are embellished in sensitive taupes, greys, sage veggies, and pinks, with luxurious fabrics, metallic wallpapers, and high-spec fittings. Everyone comes with a large television, mini fridge, kettle, complimentary bottled water, a decanter of estate-made sloe gin, a safe, slippers, and robes. Toilets are immaculate and generously sized, with stroll-in showers, roll-pinnacle baths, and ESPA toiletries. There also are 22 self-catering accommodations inside the grounds.
Food and Drinks
The silver-provider excellent Western eating place is currently under refurbishment; in the interim, there is the Tasting Room, which uses seasonal and neighborhood produce, from sport to lamb, aged Dartmoor Farmers pork and fish from the coast across the Southwest. Several interconnecting rooms are designed for households, and high teas are offered in Smith’s Brasserie.
