What a fantastic house in an outstanding location. We stayed in the Woodbine room and it was simply stunning. Bryony and Bertie couldn’t have been anymore welcoming and helpful and made our stay perfect. The breakfast was really lovely and there was plenty of choice, catering for all needs. The ‘Who’d have thought it Inn’ was a 10 minute walk away and we thoroughly enjoyed a couple of meals and some drinks there. I would not hesitate in booking to stay again and would recommend to anyone wanting the perfect weekend away. Thank you

We love this place . Bertie and Bryony are the most wonderful hosts and the place is great in every way. Beautiful decor, lots of attention to detail , great breakfasts and if glamping is your thing, you need to look into the Shepherds Huts which are really superb. All in all very smart and comfortable and a great place to stay.

Rooms
The four boutique bedrooms are named after background Devon cider apple sorts – Woodbine, Northwood, Pippin, and Langworthy. Your hosts have a concept of the entirety – from a torch and DAB radio to miniature homemade shortbread biscuits to enjoy with your cuppa (fresh milk available, of course). Depending on your desire, Northwood is an emperor or twin mattress, and the other rooms are king-sized. Televisions are small, but lawn perspectives are more thrilling anyway. Bathrooms are appropriately kitted out with REN toiletries and bathtub robes. The superking Woodbine suite has a significant rest room with a rolltop bathtub, separate double rainshower, and twin sinks. Different toilets have a double bath or a rainshower over a rolltop bath. The perspectives from Pippin’s restroom are mainly particular.
Food and drink
The Hancocks serve up self-made lemon drizzle cake on arrival, and they will thankfully book a desk at one of the neighborhood gastropubs for dinner.
Served between 8 am, and 9.30 am, breakfast is pretty a feast, together with everyday specials such as smashed avocado with a poached egg on sourdough, cooked by using Bryony and served via Bertie. Many ingredients are grown or reared by the Buckland Abbey food cooperative members. Fresh Tamar Valley apple juice is crafted from the estate’s apples, sausages and Beaverbrook are sourced from the estate’s loose-range Berkshire pigs, eggs are collected daily from the uncommon breed, and ex-battery chickens roam the kitchen garden.
Pick among Bryony’s own Seville marmalade and kitchen lawn honey from beehives on the grounds, plus fruit compote or homegrown stewed rhubarb and homemade Bircher muesli or Cider house granola. Porridge is Aga-cooked; a complete cooked breakfast includes groats pudding – a conventional Devon spiced sausage, and other options include green pea and kale on homebaked toast. Bryony bakes a banana cake or cinnamon swirls for those with sweet teeth, and special non-dairy, gluten-loose, or vegan diets can easily be catered for.
